Out-Of-Hours

After 6.30pm an out-of-hours service is employed by the Practice. Initially, a qualified nurse at NHS Direct* will offer advice and information. If necessary, your call will be passed to Local Care Direct**. The doctor on duty will ring to offer further advice or, if necessary, to arrange an appointment at the Halifax-based treatment centre. Please do not go directly to the treatment centre as appointments there are strictly by invitation and you will be refused access - always telephone first.

Patients who are not well enough to travel will be visited at home by a duty doctor who may not be a member of this Practice but will always be a qualified GP from the local area.

** Care UK is the provider of out-of-hours GP services in Calderdale.

The Calderdale Primary Care Trust is responsible for commissioning these services.
